Rest is part of the work

Teranga Well-Being is a seven-day restorative journey in Senegal for movement leaders, organizers, and professionals who spend their lives strengthening communities.

Rooted in teranga, the Senegalese tradition of hospitality, generosity, and high-level care, this experience curates intentional space to rest, reflect, and reconnect with the purpose behind your work.

EXPLORE TERANGA WELL-BEING

Who cares for the people carrying the work?

Movement work is meaningful, but it can ask people to carry organizations, communities, and causes without enough time to restore themselves. Over time, that pace can affect health, wellbeing, creativity, relationships, and the ability to lead well.

Teranga Well-Being was created in 2017 to make room for the care leaders rarely receive.

For one week, participants step away from daily demands, reconnect with land, water, and air, and consider what sustainable living and working can look like.

The goal is deeper than time away. It is to help people return to their lives and work with renewed clarity, healthier boundaries, and a stronger connection to themselves and others.

Rest. Reflect. Reconnect.

Seven days to move
at a different pace.

Purposeful time away

Teranga Well-Being includes beauty, exploration, and joy, but it is designed with a clear purpose. The experience responds to the spiritual, physical and emotional strain, our founder, Dr. P. Qasimah Boston has witnessed among people who continue working morning, noon, and night without space to recover.

Rest supports sustainable leadership. It gives people room to notice what their bodies and lives require, practice healthier boundaries, and make thoughtful decisions about how they want to work going forward.

Participants do not follow a packed conference schedule or spend the week in formal training. They receive time, care, cultural connection, and guided opportunities to reflect on what they need now and what they want to carry home.

Short retreats and conferences often end just as the body and mind begin to settle. Seven days allows participants to transition out of the pace of everyday work and into a slower, more attentive rhythm.

The week balances high-level care with meaningful cultural exploration. Participants have room to rest and think while experiencing Senegal through its history, food, people, and traditions.

  • Rest and recharge in peaceful settings

  • Reflect on leadership, purpose, boundaries, and long-term sustainability

  • Reconnect with land, water, air, and the body

  • Experience Senegalese culture through thoughtful and respectful exchange

  • Build relationships with leaders who understand the demands of movement work

  • Consider the legacy you want your work and life to create

Organizations cannot build healthy movements while treating exhaustion as the cost of commitment. When leaders have opportunities to restore themselves, they are better able to remain connected to their purpose and contribute without relying on a constant state of depletion.

Support the people who sustain your mission

ASK ABOUT SENDING YOUR TEAM

Organizations can include Teranga Well-Being in their strategic plans and annual budgets, then send two or more staff members each year. This creates a consistent approach to leadership well-being rather than waiting until burnout has already affected the person or the organization.

Senegal is the place for you

Meet our Founder

Dr. P. Qasimah Boston

Founder of Teranga Well-Being and leader of Resonate Global Consulting

Dr. Qasimah Boston created this experience after years of collaborative work and honest conversations revealed a pressing need to address burnout among organizers and changemakers. Her work focuses on strengthening organizations by supporting the people who power them.

Through Teranga Well-Being, Dr. Boston brings together restorative leadership practices and global cultural exchange. She creates room for participants to step away from the demands of their work, consider how they want to live and lead, and return with greater clarity.

Short written testimonials here, ideally representing three perspectives

“…Dr. Boston says it best…”  “Rest is part of the work!”  “…I was asked to speak to graduate students as a part of a leadership class and I ended with a few pictures from our Teranga Wellbeing experience and how I just learned how vital rest is.  Hopefully they won’t wait as long as I did to understand how important rest is!  I gave them each a rest card…”.  -S

“…This week has given me courage and self-assurance of myself on levels that I did not know were possible and that I did not give myself permission to access in the States…” T

“…This is my first trip out of the country and to have the opportunity to do it with some of the most incredible people on the planet has been such a privilege…” “…it has shown me how connected we are and the importance of caring for ourselves and our people because it has a global impact …”– T
